Cheltenham School District
Challenge
A strategic plan is only as powerful as people’s willingness to read it. Cheltenham School District had invested significant energy in developing their 2023–2026 Strategic Plan, a thoughtful, ambitious roadmap for the district’s future. But the document they needed to communicate it was flat, text-heavy, and didn’t come close to capturing the energy, diversity, and spirit of the students and staff it was written for. The challenge wasn’t content. It was activation. How do you take something complex and make people actually want to engage with it?
Solution
Open Haus reimagined the strategic plan as an experience rather than a report. We designed a vibrant, editorial-quality publication flooded with candid photography that put real students, teachers, and administrators at the center of the story. The layout used color strategically to organize content, guide the eye, and signal importance. Charts and data visualizations were designed to be as visually compelling as the photography. The result was a document that felt alive, something worth picking up and sharing.
Result
A strategic plan that actually gets read is a strategic plan that can drive change. The redesigned publication gave the district a tool to build stakeholder alignment, generate community pride, and demonstrate transparency. Administrators used it to reinforce the district’s vision with staff, families, school board members, and the public, turning a planning document into a genuine communications asset.
