Clean & Green West Chester
Challenge
Sustainability initiatives often preach to the converted. Clean & Green West Chester, a coalition of downtown businesses and residents committed to reducing waste, encouraging local buying, and eliminating single-use plastics, had a cause worth fighting for. What they lacked was a visual identity strong enough to be noticed on a street corner, on a trash can, or on someone’s chest. Without branding, even the best community campaigns become invisible.
Solution
Open Haus donated its creative expertise to design a logo and visual identity system for Clean & Green West Chester. The mark needed to work at every scale: small enough for shirt embroidery, bold enough to wrap a Big Belly trash unit. We applied the identity to a range of environmental surfaces: decals for cigarette receptacles, full-panel wraps for street-level waste stations, and directional signage, turning the borough’s infrastructure into a distributed branding canvas for civic pride.
Result
Clean & Green West Chester gained a recognizable, cohesive identity, making the initiative feel credible and unified. The work demonstrates something Open Haus believes deeply: good design doesn’t just communicate. It organizes. When a community can see itself, it’s more likely to act like one.
