Petplan
Challenge
When two Wharton graduates set out to bring Petplan, Europe’s top-ranked pet insurance product, to the United States, they had a remarkable product and zero brand presence. At the time, Americans were skeptical of pet insurance altogether, and Petplan’s defining differentiator—coverage for hereditary conditions—needed to be explained before it could be celebrated. They needed a creative partner who could build and grow the brand across 48 states.
Solution
Open Haus became Petplan’s embedded creative partner for its US launch and national rollout. We built a brand around the emotional truth that Americans treat their pets as family: print advertising in national pet publications, application and enrollment materials, vet office displays, tradeshow materials, welcome kits, and promotional campaigns. We also designed and produced fetch!, Petplan’s biannual customer loyalty magazine: a 60-page publication using humor, real stories, and photography to make pet care and coverage feel like belonging to a family.
Result
Petplan grew from zero brand awareness to the number one pet insurance company in the US. Open Haus was a creative partner throughout the 48-state rollout.
