Healthy Family Project
Challenge
Getting families to engage with nutrition education is harder than it sounds. Most health content talks at people rather than with them—it’s clinical, earnest, and easy to ignore. Healthy Family Project is an unbranded initiative funded by Shuman, created to make healthy eating education genuinely easy, fun, and inspiring for both kids and parents. Keeping it separate from the Shuman brand was intentional—the program needed to stand on its own, built around a mission rather than a product. The creative challenge was building a brand that could carry that mission without feeling like a lesson. Because the moment it feels like a lecture, you’ve lost them.
Solution
Open Haus developed the Healthy Family Project brand identity with the educational mission as the strategic foundation for every decision. Bright colors, hand-drawn iconography, and playful typography were not just aesthetic choices—they were signals to families that this content was made for them, not at them. The system scaled across in-store signage and displays, brochures, online advertising, and tradeshow panels, keeping the brand consistent and the message clear at every touchpoint. We also developed distinct logo identities for three sub-brands—Healthy Family Project, Mission for Nutrition, and Food RX—each with its own purpose within the broader nutrition education ecosystem, all connected by a shared visual language.
Result
Healthy Family Project launched with a brand presence that made nutrition education feel like something worth seeking out rather than sitting through. The visual system held up across every channel, and the sub-brand identities gave each initiative a distinct voice within a cohesive whole. When the design is working, healthy eating doesn’t feel like homework. It feels like an invitation.
